Visual Arts Basics

This program offers the learner a broad range of subjects to gain practical skills and knowledge in painting, mosaics, drawing and design. The learner will develop creativity and technical abilities to build confidence and proficiency in the making of 3D and 2D art. The learner will be encouraged to develop ideas through observation, investigation and experimentation. The fundamental experience gained through achieving this program will culminated in a body of work being produced suitable for presenting as a folio for application to further study. Possible pathways to employment include artist, craftsperson or further study pathway is Certificate II, III or IV in Visual Arts or Certificate IV in Leisure and Health or Certificate IV Arts for Health and Wellbeing.

The group aims to:

  • make simple creative work
  • source and use information relevant to own arts practice
  • Occupational Health and Safety in a workplace
  • develop skills and techniques in drawing
  • design and development of mosaic techniques or digital imaging or painting or quilting/sewing employing the elements and principles of art and design.
  • develop visual arts industry knowledge
  • qualifications needed to gain employment in the industry
  • develop skills to work as part of a team and work independently
  • create a portfolio of work samples and relevant information
Duration:1 Term - 1 day per week
Session Time:Daytime, 5 hr Sessions
