Introduction to 3D Printing

An exciting and innovative process of manufacturing and creating three dimensional solid objects from a digital file. If you do not have a technical background, but have a creative mind, use your imagination to design and create.

The group aims to:

  • Identify what 3D printing is and who would use itt
  • Understand terminology used in the field
  • Research, identify and analyse the overall 3D printing process features and theory and apply that knowledge to 3D printing and production solutions.
  • Interpret a design brief and use of information
  • Develop a range of approaches and solutions through Idea generation and problem solving
  • Contribute to health and safety of self and others
  • Demonstrate the process of slicing and describe the concepts of CNC, G-code and how they relate to 3D printing
  • Demonstrate the set-up of a print and describe the different basic settings available
  • Perform a full 3D print end-to-end (design to final print)
  • Prepare a portfolio of projects designed and produced.

Duration:9 weeks - 1 x 3hr session per week
Session Times:Saturday, 9:30am - 12:30pm
Evenings, 5.30pm - 8.30pm
